In alignment with the Northwest School’s mission of global citizenship and social justice, the NWS Music Department is committed to centering our curriculum on artists representing diverse identities and cultures. To this end, we have designed our curriculum to center and uplift the musicof great composers, arrangers, and artists who are from under-represented communities. For our students to be actively engaged in global citizenship and be committed to social justice, as a school we must also be proactive in our curriculum design to help guide our students on their journey. 

The music faculty has carefully crafted our 2021-2022 performance curriculum to expose our children to musical experiences that are inclusive, dynamic, and reflect a broad range of artists. For this school year, while we will study and practice the music of many composers and arrangers, the music we choose to perform on stage will be from underrepresented communities.  

We look forward to a year of inspiring students through the works of great artists, performing exhilarating music, and enjoying a time where each one of our students know that they have a place to call home in the NWS Music Department.
